Monetize Your Blog with Vizu!
As you know, I'm always looking for ways to monetize my blogs. Last year, I came across a site called Vizu. I decided to give it a try. In order to give it a prominent place on my blog, I took off the Google Adsense. What I didn't realize was that Vizu was in it's early stages. In other words, when I took off the Adsense I lost money. I decided to wait until Vizu was a little more established.
What is Vizu?
Vizu is a market research company. When you sign up to be a publisher, you agree to put a skyscraper on your blog with a poll. These polls are made by advertisers. You choose how much you want to charge the advertisers for the answers your readers provide.
The following was taken from the Vizu site:
Take a look at how I customized the widget to fit into my blog's look. It's easy to do. After you customize the poll box, you just copy and paste.
Please, particpate in the poll and see how easy and fun it will be for your readers.

Are you an ebay frequent shopper? If you are, there are two sites that will reward you for your purchases! Imagine that. You get to buy whatever you want on ebay and you can earn money or savings bonds!

Attention Gamers of All Ages!
Are you a gamer? Are you the mother of a young gamer? If you are, BegBorrow.com will help with price the tag affiliated with gaming. Beg<>Borrow is a site for those of you that love gaming, but don't love the cost attached to the hobby!
Video games are an expensive hobby. My children own every system except for the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo DS. Out of all those gaming systems, I was lucky enough to have paid for only three systems (the rest were gifts from their father and family members). The systems I bought were the PlayStation, Game Cube and the XBOX. Yes, I paid full price when they first came out...OUCH! Most of you know, you can't just get the console. Nope. You have to pay for extra controllers, attachments and game accessories. In the case of the XBOX, you even had to pay extra for the remote control to use the DVD feature! The cost doesn't finish there. You need to buy or rent games to use the consoles..DUH. That's when the cost really starts running up!
Beg<>Borrow can help you fray the cost of gaming. How? You can trade your games there. I know what you're thinking, "I can trade my video in at BlockBuster, EBGames or FYE?!?!" My kids have done that and I don't think it's fair to get $2.00-$5.00 credit for a $50.00 game...especially when they are going to resell it for a huge profit. This is a better solution for you and your pocket. Beg<>Borrow allows it's members to put a list of the video games they want to exchange along with a wish list of games they would like!
Here's an excerpt from the site which explains it all.
It's a win-win. I think it may even work better than ebay. Especially for young adults that are only interested in the gaming aspect and don't want to deal with ebay's hassles.
Visit the site and check it out. It will help you be a frugal gamer! (Well, as frugal as a gamer can be...)

You are able to prioritize your Wish List, along with your inventory - with a rating system of A to Z. Beg<>Borrow does the rest. We will search our member inventories and Wish Lists - and if we find a match - we tell you about it. If you agree to the match, a trade occurs! Pretty easy.
Titles from your "A" Inventory list will only be traded for items from your "A" Wish List - which ensures a QUALITY TRADE between you and your trading partner.

Where to Get First Communion Gifts
For those with young children that are practicing Catholics, there is a site that will make your life a little easier. The Catholic Company has a variety of first communion gifts for your little one to make that day special. Whether you're looking for rosaries, communion photo albums or frames, videos, books and bibles.
To make the day even more memorable, start a tradition. Give your child a special piece of jewelry to mark the day. Explain that the jewelry is to be given to their child on their special day. It is a great way to start a family tradition and create an heirloom to be passed down.
I still remember my first communion. The whole day was such a big deal. All the of the girls were dressed in pretty white dresses with veils. All the boys were dressed in suits. All the parents were crying and the photograhers were stalking us! It was a beautiful day, it's too bad my mom has all the pics in PR. I'd share them with you...

Find Out More About Your Diet (Pills)
Not too long ago, I wrote about diet pills. I was wondering about their effectivenees, their side effects and was seeking input from real individuals. I've said it before, I'm not carzy about taking pills, of any kind. There were several people that did share some info on one of my other blogs. One blogger, left a comment here about some other alternatives. (Thanks!, I'm lokking into that as soon as I go to GNC).
There is a site that has all the info I was looking for and much more. I thought some of you might be interested in it, since so many people are concerned with weight loss and their health. The Diet Awareness institute has a site dedicated to sharing information with the public about people's results. They have statistics on the Best Diet Pills as well as reviews from everyday people. It seems like a great resource to have, if and when you are considering taking a diet supplement to accelerate weight loss. You might want to bookmark this site for future reference...

How to Get Your Blog Indexed By Google (and other major search engines) in 5 Steps!
Many of you know that I have a Squidoo lens that is listed on the first page of Google for the term "MAKE MONEY ONLINE". That lens has many different ways I use to earn a full time income from home. Since it is a popular search term, I usually get lots of hits from Google. I also get lots of email from people asking me to mentor them, help them with earning money and guide them through creating a blog. The question I'm asked most often is "How can I get my blog indexed by Google?"
Several months ago, I created 4WAHMs: Make Money on the Internet. This site lists all the different ways you can make money online, lists resources to help you earn more and has free advertising for those that would like to get some exposure. I had the blog indexed by Google in less than 48 hours. Here are the steps that I took to accomplish that.
1. Submit your blog to search engines. You can submit your blog to search engines individually or do what I do. I submit my blogs toSubmitExpress and SubmitPlus. Submitting your blog will be a little time consuming. Many of the smaller search engines will ask you to register your blog on their particular site. This means you may end up doing it several times. They will send you a confirmation link to your inbox to verify that you are the owner of the blog. Take the time to do this. It will help you in the long run. I'm listed on the top position for msn's search engine for the term getting out of debt.
2. Claim your blog.
The most important place to claim ownership of your blog is Technorati. Later on you can claim your blog at MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog, SpicyPage and FuelMyBlog. These sites will help you with traffic. They are indexed regularly because of the enormous amount of fresh content and that will help your blog.
3. Register at Forums and add your blog to your signature.
The first forum you should join is Blogger Forum. You can also ask for links on the link exchange thread. At a later date, you can join other forums that are relevant to your blog's content. Most forums have active members that are constantly adding fresh content to the threads. This means they are indexed regularly and that will show up as a link for you. Be sure to add informative content to the forums. Spam is frowned upon and if you are guilty of it....you will be deleted.
4. Link Love
This one may be a little tough for new bloggers. I linked 4WAHMs to several of my blogs that range from a 4 to 3 page rank. I know what you're thinking.
What if I don't have a blog to link to with a decent page rank?
If you want a link from this blog (PR4), you can write a review of it and get a link back.
Here are the rules:
1. Write a review about this site and use Getting Out of Debt as the anchor text (hyperlink). The URL is http://getting-out-of-debt.blogspot.com/
2. Leave a comment here with your blogger name and the URL of the review.
You can get even more links by writing reviews of the following sites:
1. SEO Link Building Services (PR1)
2. An Autism Blog (PR0)
http://www.pdd-nosmemoirs.com/
3. Gift Giving Made Easy (PR1)
http://supermomshops.blogspot.com/
4. Pro Blogging 411 (PR1)
http://www.pro-blogging411.com/
5. Sending Smiles Across the Miles (PR3)
http://supermom-in-ny.blogspot.com/
6. SuperMom 2005 (PR3)
http://supermom2005.mindsay.com/
Here are a few more bloggers that are offering links for reviews:
1. www.JohnChow.com (PR6)
2. www.CareerRamblings.com (PR6)
3. www.TylerCruz.com (PR5)
4. Make Money With a 13 yr old (PR4)
5. TheBlogHog (PR3)
6. An Army Wife's Life (RR5)
How can writing these reviews and getting these links from high PR sites help you?
Page Rank is very important, especially when you want to make money online writing reviews. The more links you have from sites with decent page rank, the more money you can make. ReviewMe charges $400.00 for a review on John Chow's Blog. He gets $200.00 for a 200 word review, the company gets the other $200.00. Think about it. Wouldn't you like to earn $200.00 per review?
5. Submit posts to BlogCarnivals.
Blog Carnivals are hosted on different blogs and are about various topics. They accomplish two things: traffic and link love. Find a carnival that is relevant to your blog's niche and submit, submit, submit. Be sure to link back to the carnival when they are posted. If you really want to gain lots of links quickly, host a carnival. Everyone that participates in a carnival is given the instruction to link back to the carnival. That means you may be getting lots and lots of links in a matter of a day!
I hope you enjoyed this post. Favorite this site on Technorati, bookmark on delicious and subscribe to the blog! It will be greatly appreciated! Be sure to leave a comment!

Technorati Ping Bug: Two Possible Causes and Solutions
I was reading some blogs when I came across this post by A ProBlogger Mom: Why doesn't Technorati fix it's ping bug? I was having the same problem as were many other bloggers. Technorati wasn't registering my ping through my automatic ping on blogger, their site, manually through their site, from ipings or pingomatic. Soon after I came across a post from Stephen Fung. He was having the same problem and he received an email regarding PayPerPost.com links on his blog. Apparently, they are penalizing bloggers that have payperpost links and or badges. Of course, they didn't say it in those words.
Read the post by Stephen Fung: Technorati Hates PayPerPost? Here's an excerpt of the email they sent him:
Personally, I got tired of sending Technorati email after email. When I decided to see if others had the same problem, I came across the post above. It was helpful, but didn't solve my problem. I only had the payperpost badge on a few entries here and there. I decided to figure it out by myself. I accidentally came across a solution.
Several months ago, I upgraded to blogger2. I noticed I had problems since that time. I was using ipings and pingomatic to see if the ping registered and noticed a different URL was coming up:
This is my URL:
http://getting-out-of-debt.blogspot.com/
This is what was coming up:
http://getting-out-of-debt.blogspot.com/index.html
So I used the longer version and it registered the ping. It wasn't instant, but it worked.
What are two possible solutions to the Technorati blog update problem?
1. Do not put payperpost badges on every entry. Sprinkle them throughout your blog.
2. Ping your blog with the additional text above.
I hope that this information is useful. I'm not a tech expert, I just found somethig that worked for me. Try it, it may work for you too.
If you try the solution above, leave a comment and let us know about your results...
Read the post by Stephen Fung: Technorati Hates PayPerPost? Here's an excerpt of the email they sent him:
It seems that your blog has been flagged for review. I am suspecting that it is due to the Ad and Payperpost links placed in every post. Because of this, your blog will continually be flagged with each indexed post. Please try including the links in your sidebar.

I Chose to Be Practical

My parents were here last week. This is one of the reasons why I had to cut back on the time I spent online. It was kind of frustrating because I had that added expense of the minivan repairs. At the same time I knew they were here only for a short period of time and so I did some blogging, but not a significant amount.
While they were here, my Dad did tons of yardwork. With over two acres of land, it is a time consuming task. The Chatterbox (16 yr old), usually mows the lawn without being asked. She's a great help. Of course, my boys take a lot more coaxing...or yelling :) ! Anyway, my Dad accomplished a lot.
We went out because my mom wanted to pay her bill. That's when I saw some beautiful teak outdoor furniture like this. It was gorgeous and my parents wanted to get it for me and the kids. I really liked it, but I thought about the want and the need.
Here's my argument for and against getting the teak furntiure.
1. I need to get my minivan repaired.
2. I need to pay my insurance.
3. I need to get out of debt.
4. I need new pots and pans.
5. I didn't need new furnture.
5. I didn't need more STUFF to care for.
6. I don't have the time to lug the furniture in and out of the shed with the seasons.
7. I didn't need the additional seating, since we barely sit outside.
What did I tell them?
I thanked my parents for the thought. I then told them it was an expense that was a luxury, I would rather fulfill a need. They agreed. I think that my plate is full right now. I already have 15 blogs, 7 Squidoo lenses, three minivans to deal with (of which 2 need repairs), 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 7 kids, 8 pets, and acres of land. No I don't need a pool, more outdoor furniture or other posession that takes time and energy to maintain. I already lack time and energy. I wonder if I could buy those anywhere?
What did they get me?
They bought me a new set of pots and pans. I had purchased mine in the 90's. I do a lot of cooking and they needed to be replaced.
Now I don't have to worry about getting new pots and pans. Perhaps after I pay for my minivan repairs, my outstanding bills and the leather sectional-I will look into a set like this. Like I always say: "If it's meant to be, it will happen on it's own time."

How I Saved $1168.00 on my MiniVan Repairs
On April 30th, the transmission on my minivan died. I was looking at a hefty sum, which included repairs and a minivan rental. The following is what I did to save $1168. from the total cost.
1. I needed to increase my income. I found several new sites that pay you to blog. This will help me earn the money I need to pay for the new transmission.
2. I immediately called a mechanic for an estimate. He stated I would be looking at $1500.00-$2000. in repairs!
3. I visited Enterprise online to get a quote on the rental of a minivan for the two weeks they would be holding my minivan for repairs. It would cost me about $1400.?! The last time, the mechanics took a full month and the rentals fees were outrageous.
4. Thought of a plan B. The Little One's Dad bought a used minivan in January. He parked it in my driveway and after getting a quote for insurance decided he'd just use my van for free... Yeah well, I decided I wasn't going to pay for his insurance. (Can you blame me? I only support 7 people?!?) Insuring his minivan was cheaper than renting one. Guess what I did?! Yup, I insured and registered the minivan last Friday, May 11th. Why not? He's not going to pay for the repairs on my van, even though he grabs my keys as if he owned my minivan (and yes I complain everytime). The final cost was $232.00 for the taxes, registration and insurance! Was he upset? Nope. He didn't offer to help with any of the expenses either. I still have to do the inspection, so I made sure to request the money for it.
5. I'm going to shop around and see if I could get a better quote for the transmission. There has to be a way I can get it done cheaper.
6. Tomorrow I'm going to check out a few quick ways to raise some funds buy selling some stuff. No, it's not ebay. I'll definitely keep you posted...
A car is a necesiity when you live in the middle of nowhere. That's why I deal with the car drama and the endless money pit.

This is Why I Share How to Make Money Online
This morning, I woke up a little sad and frustrated. My minivan needs repairs. I felt like I was finally getting out of the hole, and then this happens ...again. I always start my weekdays by checking my email, the stats on my sitemeter, technorati and the affiliate network totals.
This morning, I found great news. Someone had submitted this blog to a contest where the prize is $1000.00. This would come in handy at this time. If you read one of the entries below, you'll find that I didn't know who had taken this great action.
A little while ago, I was surfing on mybloglog. I received a message from a blogger known as Merkal. He visits my blog often. He told me he had been the one that submitted my blog. I thanked him and explained what I was going through.
Here is his reply:
The reason I blog about companies that help you make money online is because I ove to help other people. I learned the hard way, but you don;t have to. Merkal's message made my day. I realized that the time I put into this blog does help others. That is the reason why I started blogging in the first place! (By the way, for all my regular readers...I took off the comment moderation and the no follow tags. If you leave a comment, it should show up as a link back to your site).
Thanks Merkal.
Here's some link love for you!

I fully support you. I appreciate your struggle so far away from you. I
have made so much money by following your blog and i will always
appreciate it. Money comes somehow, but sharing your ideas and being a good
mom is worthless supermom.

Make Money and Vote for Getting Out of Debt!
Thanks to someone in the blogoshpere, my blog was entered into the
Financial Blog Hunt. This is a contest for finance blogs arranged by DebtCC Community. The community offers $1000 prize money for the Blog Hunt winner. It helps finance blogs get connected with more bloggers, as well as gain popularity in the Blogosphere. The purpose of Blog Hunt is to find good and informative Blogs for the community. They also desire to give recognition to Bloggers for their hard work.
This came at a great time. As most of you know, I'm on a quest to get out of debt. I've found many ways to earn money online, which I always share. I would have paid off my debt, if my car hadn't kept breaking down. On Monday April 30th, my transmission died. My minivan no longer goes in reverse. I have to repair it which means lots of cash. The worst part is that I'm going to have to rent a minivan for the time being. The repair shop I called told me it would be about $2000. The rental of a minivan for the two weeks they paln to take to repair it is an additional $1500-$2000. The final cost of the two will cost me close to $4000.00. That's what I owe on the van! :( Everytime I get close to getting out of the hole of debt, my car breaks down or some other emergency comes up. (The fact that he is behind on the child support payments doesn't help either.) It would be great to win the prize. I could really use it!
Here's the link to the contest. I know many of you find the information I give very useful. I ask that you show your dedication to this site by voting for it. Pretty please! I've placed a link that will take you directly to the site.
One more thing, that community has a great way for bloggers to earn money. They have a way for you to get paid to blog! You can write about debt on their blogs which are monetized with Google Adsense. You keep 80% of the revenue and they keep 20%. Visit the site and learn more.

Is the Gift for Me or the Diva?
Mother's Day is approaching fast. The Diva showed me what she wants to get me. My question is: "Is the gift for me or for her?" Let me explain why I wonder... See, she's at the age where looks are important. Well, looks are important to an extent. Most people don't go out looking the way they do when they wake up in the morning, right? What I mean is that for some people, looks are the most important thing. More important than their finances, their jobs and their kids. I really don't have the time to bother with nails and hair. I keep my nails short and my hair long. I put my hair up when it's too hot, I leave it loose when I have the time to really style it. Makeup? Not really. I never really wore heavy makeup. Foundation, moisturizer, blush, mascara and lipstick are applied on special days. Otherwise, lip gloss or chapstick will do. That't it.
That brings me to the gift that was chosen. Is she trying to tell me something? Does she want me to wear more makeup? Is it that the gift is what she wants? I think it may be the latter. Makeup Mirrors are important to a person that wears makeup. The lighted ones are perfect for applying night or day makeup. For a person like me that is NOW low maintenance...I have to believe she wants it. So, before she goes and makes a purchase (with the money she earns), I think I'll ask her about her motive. It just may save her some time and money...
