I got this internet scam email today. I don't like spam, but these emails that are sent for "phishing purposes" really upset me. I got this one today:

It cost me $7.00 in gas to mow the lawn!!!

It cost me $7.00 in gas to mow the lawn!!! The gas prices are outrageous. Being that we are personal finance bloggers, we should try to come up with a plan to have an impact on these gas prices. We are bloggers after all, with the ability to spread the word in real time and become viral just by linking to each other's blogs and/or creating a trackback!

I have received an email that gives specific instructions to create an impact by not shopping at Exxon and Mobil. Being a Christian, I feel bad doing that because it may financially impact a person in a destructive manner. The oil companies are the villains here, not the neighborhood gas station owners or are they?

Besides the obvious choices of maintaining your car and car pooling, what else is there?

We can:
1. Limit the times we leave the house. Except for people like me that live in the middle of nowhere that need to drive 20-25 minutes just to get to a supermarket, it won't work. With 7 kids, there is always an appointment, little league and grocery runs.
2. Pull out your bike and/or your running shoes and walk.
3. Schedule all your errands on the same day.

That doesn't solve the problem of $7.00 in gas to mow the lawn though? It's two acres of land, too much to use a push mower...

Shhould I live in a forest this summer and risk getting fined for not maintaining the property? That's ludicrous! There are also the problems of the rabbits that will make little tunnels close to the ground to have their litters and the deers with their deer ticks. Oh, the black bear population seems to have boomed this year... Having overgrown shrubs would contribute to these issues.

Let's brainstorm and make some impact on this gas situation and fast!!!

People think I am crazy for the things that I say. I am brutally honest and that's probably why I am so attracted to blogging about personal finance. All Financial Matters asked what would you do money were no object.

I always tell people that if I came across a large sum of money, I would do the following:
1. Tithe!
2. Pay off all my debt.
3. Make sure my 7 kids are taken care of for life.
4. Pay off all my father's debts and renovate his house exactly the way he wants it.
5. Pay off both of my sister's debts 100%.
6. Give gifts to two of my closest friends!

People ask me why I care about my family. Why would I pay for my families debts? Well, if it wasn't for my father-the kids and I would be homeless. The fact that fathers like mine exist is a miracle in itself. As for my sisters, this is just a small example of what they have done for me.

Now that you understand my past and my family, wouldn't you do the same?

There is also a site called EVERSAVE that I wrote about the other day. (For some reason, the post didn't function correctly.) EVERSAVE is a site where you can get free samples of new products. When you sign up they ask you many questions in a survey format. They use this information to send emails with questionnaires that qualify you for free product samples. I have received many free new products, samples and coupons. Check it out!

Yesterday, I wrote about how I was looking for a new cell phone service provider because my contract is expiring. This is the time to look for a better deal and freebies! I am using Cognigen to stake out the best deal. They work just like Progressive auto insurance. You type in your zip code, they tell you which companies provide service in your area and the best priced plans as well as all the phones being offered (with the prices). They eliminate the problem of getting a plan and realizing you can't use your cell phone from your home! (Trust me, it's happened to me with Virgin Mobile, Sprint and Voice Stream (in the early days of cell phones). I am not even going to go into the horror stories with roaming charges!!!

Here is how it works:
1. They have many offers for lots of cell phones. With some of the offers you end up getting cash back. One of the phones leaves you with $60.00 in your pocket. The cash back is in the form of rebates offered by the companies. It's listed right on the site.
2. I like my Samsung camera phone, but this Motorola has a better camera phone and also has the ability to download Itunes at amazing speeds. You can surf the net with the bluetooth technology, text message-it does everything but make you coffee in the morining!!!!

I am going to think about it. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't benefit. The plans they have are cheaper than my current one and I shouldn't have a problem with service plus I get a new high tech phone for free. It seems like a win/win situation. I don't see any setbacks, but if you do leave me a comment. Sometimes, one can overlook a simple detail. I always read all the TOS, the fine print, all the details -well except for that big UH-OH with the H&R Block IRA! Fortunately, I just may end up getting some money from there if there is a class action suit...

Frugal Tips For Dining Out With Kids! Yes, I know-I know! This seems like an oxymoron. By the time you read this post, you will understand.

As I have reiterated, I am a mom of 7. In 2004, I was working a full time job outside of the home. I was always tired, the kids spent most of their waking hours between school and/or daycare and afterschool programs. By the time I came out from work, I was exhausted and still had to pick the kids up from all the different afterschool prgrams and sitters. Time was a precious commodity and I had very little of it. What happened after I picked them up? I had to run home, cook, help them with homework, drive them to the extracurricular activity of that day and prepare for the next day in the hamster wheel. Are you tired yet?

The amount of money and time it takes to buy and cook a meal is what I looked at. I am the coupon queen, but when I was working full time I didn't have the time to find, cut and sort coupons. Even when I bought the food on sale, it was a big grocery bill! Then I realized that my community had many deals to get families to eat out during the week! That's when I started saving money by eating out! Yes, you read that right!

How did I save money? You need to consider the time and money spent at the grocery store as well as the time used for food preparation. It was cheaper for me to dine out than to cook everyday.

Here are a few of the deals I took advantage of:
1. Every Monday the pizzeria by my job had a family special: 2 large pies, 2 (Italian Bread Sized)garlic bread and salad for $20.00.
2. Ponderosa had a deal every Tuesday. Kids eat FREE between the hours of 4pm and 9pm. You read that right! FREE!!! I paid for my dinner which cost me $7.49 plus a drink, then I paid for all their drinks as well and their dinner was free. Can you say BARGAIN of The YEAR!
3. Taco Bell had the 10 tacos for $8.90 and you could add the mexican pizza and/or nachos bell grande for $2.49 each.
4. The McDonald's by my job had all the Happy Meals for $1.49 between the hours of 4pm-9pm, Mon-Thurs.
5. Denny's had a deal every Thursday. Two kids eat free with every adult entree purchase after 4pm.
6. IHOP has this deal: Two kids eat free with every adult entree purchase every Friday from 4pm-8pm.
7. Pizza Hut had a deal on Tuesdays: you bought a pizza pie and got one of equal or lesser price for free.
8. Domino's always runs promotions like the 5-5-5 or the 7-7-7. That means 3 pies of the same size for the same price which totals $15.00 or $21.00!

The days that school wasn't in session as well as weekends-I cooked. Being that I suffer from migraines and stomach maladies regularly, these deals were great alternatives. I know many people will have fits, but I "keep it real". The life of a sinlge parent is hard and I have to do the best that I can holding everything together ("holding it down") without having a nervous breakdown or ending up in the ER! Sometimes, these shortcuts are necessary.

I hope these tips are useful for those of you that desire to dine out with your kids. Most restaurants run specials during the week, when business is slow. If dining out is something you would like to do, without spending a lot of cash-check out their promotions!

Blogexplosion Staff Dizzy With Power?

A funny little thing happened today. I have been with blogexplosion since I started blogging. I found the link on the first blog I ever read called www.specialneedsmom.com. Well, I started with one blog and then I started a separate blog because I wanted to keep the first blog centered around the topic of my life with my 7 kids and my 4 yr old's autism. The personal finance blog came about because I got sick of being being in debt.

I had created two banners for my other blog, so I decided to create a banner for this blog a few months ago. After doing so, I was told by Blogexplosion that it was rejected because they don't endorse biz opps. Yes that's what they said. Now, there are banners there on constant rotation announcing web design, home businesses and templates for sale. I sent them a reply stating this fact. Someone called Jeff (staff) sent me an email back telling me he made the final decision and that's that. He felt the banner was a biz opp and that my Getting Out Of Debt blog is full of ads and he is banning it, (sounds ike he got upset that I stated the obvious). Geez, how dare I speak my mind. So, he took my blog off blogexplosion just like that. Pretty funny, some people get a little power and they act like Saddam. So what? So, now he can laugh because he had his ultimate revenge? Why haven't they banned all the many, many bloggers that have adult content? What about the blogs full of profanity and blatant ads for paypal donations? There are people begging for money, stringing affiliate links and google adsense all over their blog pages, so much so the content is buried.

You tell me. Does this look like a link that is a blatant "biz opp" banner?

Associated Content: A Writing Site That Pays

Here is a writing site by the name of Associated Content that pays. How do I know? Well, I just got the confirmation email this morning. It took a week for them to approve it. They read the content and made me an offer. I came across this site on bloggerparty (another place that I blog at). A young girl stated that she was making money by writing articles and submitting them here. Now her statement is confirmed. Associated Content really pays.

The article that I wrote was from the list of topics that they are requesting. I wrote about my neighborhood. Pretty easy topic, don't you think? They are looking for people that will write about the places to dine in your city, great places to visit and the best places to host children's parties. Let's see? That's a no brainer for me. Being the mom of 7, I have used most of the places for children's parties myself. Who else can say that? They have been invited to countless parties and I have paid to give them these parties as well. (I would rather pay to have a party at one of these places then deal with the aftermath of a kid's party and 7 kids). That was the content of my article. Ten places that you might want to have your child's next birthday party...

Here is a short list of how much money I've made from the work from home sites. I will be listing the link, how much time I spent on the venture and the total or rounded up monetary gain (due to google's TOS limitations).

1. 500cents-500dollars
I found this site from a person that claims they made money quickly and it was legitimate. Naturally, I had to sign up and see for myself. It is a paid to read email site and it also has paid auto surf, paid trial offers and more. I signed up April 4, 2006. On April 5, they sent me 8 emails. I opened the emails today April 6, 2006. Each email has a 60 second timer which endures you are staying there a minimum amount of time. After the 60 seconds, your account is credited. I made $8.00 in 8 minutes of time. The minimum payout is $500.00, but that could be made in several weeks with these emails or even faster if you sign up for free offers. Not bad for 8 minutes of your time.
Total Time Spent: 8 minutes
Actions: Read 8 emails
Total Amount: $8.00

2. Yesterday, I wrote about ReviewStream a writing site. I wrote one article and received an email two days later with the payment notification. I just wrote a second article the day before yesterday. I got an email with another payment notification. It took me ten minutes to write a two paragraph review on my cell phone and portable DVD player.
Total Time Spent: 10 minutes for each review (20 minutes overall)
Actions: Wrote a two paragraph review on a product.
Total Amount: $4.00

3. I found Helium Knowledgethrough a bloggerparty member named Ms. Zola. You answer questions or ask a question and give an answer (you make double the amount). When people read them, you get paid. The way the system is set up, every time someone answers the question-they have to read everyone's answer. Therefore, everyone that has answered the question gets paid. I signed up last Thursday March 30, 2006 and answered one question. Then I answered a few more questions since Monday (10 more to be exact). You answer the questions and they create a passive income.
Total Time Spent: 30 minutes (overall)
Actions: Wrote some answers to questions.
Total Amount: $8.00

4. Can't forget the google adsense. That is my most time consuming venture. I blog on many, many sites. I then have to optimize the entries for the search engines, build traffic, send pings, create viral content, submit articles all over the net and hope that people will link to my blogs-to increase rank. 5. Affiliate marketing is another venture. I have put up some links at Gift Giving Made Easy with great gift ideas for many occasions. I have spent a lot of time doing this. I will receive a check pretty soon.
Total Time Spent: At least 48 hours overall.
Actions: Created deep links and wrote content optimized for search engines.
Total Amount: Couldn't receive a check because although I made money I haven't made any of the minimum payouts. Let's just say about $20.00 from the different sources. ***UPDATE***Things have changed and I will get one soon.

Making Money On the Internet From Home

Making money on the internet is becoming an obsession for me. Actually, the purpose of this little experiment is to get out of debt. After that happens, I will continue to make money to invest.

Yesterday, I wrote about Helium Knowledge. This site is great for online income. Read the post, so you'll understand what I mean. I answered four questions last Thursday and have made money everyday since. It's accumulating faster than interest in a bank. Hey! It is making money while I am doing other things (like caring for my 7 kids and BTW Little League practice started....*UGGHH*).

Personally, I love to share all my knowledge-that's why I have a million blogs. So, here is another site that I found and tried out. How do you make money? It's so easy. You write reviews and you get paid for each one. I wrote one review for ReviewStreamin 10 minutes and two days later, I got an email informing me that it was accepted. Now the amount they pay per review is posted on the front page of their site. Currently it is $2.00 for the suggested topics. You don't think that's worth it?

Let's see:
1. It took me ten minutes to write it.
2. It was only about two paragraphs long.
3. It didn't take much effort and absolutely no research.

You write your opinion and you get paid. They have a list of the topics that pay $2.00 on the front of the home page. Once you reach $50.00, you can get paid through paypal. It's that simple. You can review anything including the neighborhood McDonald's, your favorite lipstick, deodorant, perfume, cologne, retail store or website.

I have written two reviews and will be writing more to receive my check. Not bad for ten miuntes of my time!

Checking Out The Money Making Sites (Helium Knolwedge)

You know that I am always checking out the money making sites to give you a review. My sole purpose in researching these work from home opportunities is to make money to pay off the debt. Here is one that was brought to my attention by a fellow bloggerparty member named Ms. Zola (thanks)! This site is great because once you take action (in writing an answer)it becomes passive income, much like google adsense.

Here is what it entails:
1. You sign up.
2. You answer questions.
3. Every time the answers are viewed, (which will happen because of the way the system is set up), you get paid.
4. You can submit questions, but you must also submit the answer.
5. They list the highest paying questions on the front page, so you can answer all of those and you make passive income. In other words, your answers are being viewed and rated by other members when they answer a question, so you are always collecting $$$. Even when you are sleeping! You know I love that! My 7 kids are very expensive. They are even consuming income when they are sleeping! LOL!!!

The minimum payment is $25.00. They pay by check or paypal. There are people there that have already collected over $160.00 in two months for very little effort.

The Strategy To Make The Most Money:
This information was given by two members that state they have already collected monthly checks for $30.00 and $60.00. One stated that it pays their phone bill! LOL!
1. One member answers 4 top paying questions everyday. This might take twenty minutes depending on how many answers you have to rate (remember the that's how you make money).
2. The other member stated she answers four top paying questions a day and makes $60.00.
3. If you create a question and then answer it, you will get even more reads because every person that answers it has to read your answer!

So, that's another way to make some quick money! I know you will enjoy it! I will be reporting on two other sites I found for some passive income and another writing site. I have to go take my kids to the mall, so I'll post that tonight or tomorrow. So, stay tuned!!!
