Is Your Hobby Expensive?

When you write about personal finance specifically debt reduction, you often receive a lot of email containing questions. Since you put your personal business "out there" people tend to feel they can ask prying questions. The biggest controversy with personal finance involves three issues: kids (to have them or not), pets (either you own one or you don't) and hobbies (do you keep them if they are expensive?)

Funny, when it comes to people who love golf...expenses don't matter. Perhaps since the sport is costly, most of those who participate can usually afford it. After visiting this site, I see why most golfers are in high paying positions. The site The World of Golf has reasonable prices, but they are still pretty high (at least I think) for a hobby. Let me give you an example of the price range of some golf clubs. There is a Big Bertha Fusion FT-3 Drivers listed on SALE for $299.95. Yes, you read that correctly. By the way, that's for just one driver. Not a set of clubs, just ONE. If you wanted to buy a set, it would run you at least $499.00. Woah. You better really like golf, to spend that kind of money!

You know, I'm glad that my hobby is blogging. It doesn't cost me anything and I make money from it, instead of losing money. It's a win-win situation for me. I think I'll stick to it! So what about you. What's your hobby and how much does it cost you? (Don't forget to add expenses such as babysitting and gas. Give a clear picture!)

Weight Loss and Pills

We're approaching the end of April, that means I should be checking my weight loss goal. I have lost weight and inches, but it's nothing dramatic. I cut back on the coffee, which I know was the cause of the rapid weight loss. (Needless to say, I gained much of it back). I'm sure you can imagine what happens to a body when it consumes 24 cups of coffee a day. Can you say FRAZZLED?!?!

This month will be a little different. I'm joining the Y. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the kids are wasting too much time online. As long as we are here, they are in front of the computer. It's not that they're online either. They are content playing solitaire or any other computer game! The other is because I don't want to wlk around here. The bears will be out and about. I don't want to have a run in with a: bear, deer, snake, skunk or coyote. Believe it or not, I've seen a few on the side of the road. They were struck. Anyway, the YMCA has an array of activities to keep me and the kids very active.

Someone recommended diet pills, one being ionamin. It's an appetite suppressant. This particular site says it should be used in conjunction with diet and exercise. Obviously, it should help accelerate weight loss. Being the chicken that I am, I wouldn't take the pills. I like to be fully aware and not be altered in any way. Having The Little One with his autism diagnosis makes me nervous about taking meds-even when they are prescribed. Many people have had success with diet pills, and that's great. I'm not against their use. I don't use them because of reasons I've stated.

Hopefully, the exercise will accelerate my progress. Summer is around the corner and I want to hit the beach!

Should You Pay Attention to the Customer Service of a "Possible" Employer?

A blog by the name of No Regrets, but plenty of memories... poses an excellent point. (Be sure to visit and read all the great posts!) When you are looking for employment, shouldn't the employer acknowledge receipt of your resume?

Several of my friends are currently looking for employment. One of them is recently divorced, another's hours have been cut in half due to downsizing and the other has had her job eliminated due to poor enrollment! They all have the same complaint. They are actively looking for employment and send resumes to different employment possitions they qualify for. After that, they wait and wait ...and wait some more. They don't receive a call, email or letter stating that their resume was received, filed or being considered at all.

The fact that you are looking for employment with a company should be enough for them to treat you with respect. After all, just like the blogger states on her post, being employed by a company is beneficial to both parties. They are looking for certain skill sets and you are offering those skills for a monetary exchange. Right?

Read the post and tell me what you think. Being ignored by a company you are seeking employment with is a red flag. If they don't respect future employees, do you expect their customer service to be any better?...

Makes you think huh!?!

Thanks for your great post!

Smorty: Get Paid to Blog!

Smorty is the latest company on the "get paid to blog" scene. Smorty brings bloggers and advertisers together in a mutually beneficial way. Advertisers that seek opinions about their products and services, pay bloggers to create a buzz in the blogoshpere. You simply blog about your opinion and place a link in your entry. This link will lead to the advertiser that is paying for links and search engine recognition. Want to get paid for blogging?
Here's the 411!

How can you join Smorty and blog for money?
Blogging for pay is not difficult. The first thing you need is an established blog. Here are the other prerequesites.
1. The blog must be indexed by Google.
2. Your blog must be at least 3 months old.
3. The blog must not contain hate, violence or adult content.
4. The blog must be active and have a minimum of two posts a week.
5. You must have a paypal account to receive payment.
6. You can use as many blogs as you want, which means you can earn a nice amount of money!
7 The minimum amount that an entry is worth is $6.00. If your blog has a large readership, high page rank, or good Alexa rankings, you will be paid more per entry.

What is the difference between Smorty and other paid blogging companies?
1. This is one of the few companies that pays bloggers on a weekly basis. I love this because it's convenient. If you need or want some extra money for an unexpected expense, you can write several entries and get paid in a week.
2. They give you a response of acceptance or denial into the program within 72 hours.
3. They are open to bloggers of all countires, as long as they have a PayPal
account. Your content must be in English in order to get paid for blogging.

There you are. One more easy way to make money on the internet, to get out of debt!

Visit MAKE MONEY ONLINE for FREE information on how to make money on the internet!

MyLot is Still Standing!

MyLot was the first site to pay people to post on forums, about any topic they chose. Before I came across MyLot, I knew of companies that paid for "forumboosting" services. Forum boosting is when a forum owner pays a company to have people post comments and start threads....for money. I came cross about five different companies that are reputable, but it seemed so complicated. I never got around to doing it. MyLot is a lot easier. You can start threads about almost anything and you don't have to do any research. The research aspect of the forum boosting was the time consuming part.

There are several benefits to being a MyLot member.
1. You can earn by posting comments, starting threads and even posting images.
2. You earn 25% of your referrals' earnings. This can be very lucrative, if you have many referrals and they post often.
3. You don't have to be an expert at anything. You can start threads about almost anything.
4. They pay by paypal. The payments are made monthly (once you reach the $10.00 minimum).

If you like to post on forums, this is a great place to do so. There are many categories and groups. There are many nationalities represented there too. Celebrity favorites range from Bollywood, Hollywood and Latin American sensations!

Here's my myLot User Profile. You can browse the many categories, threads and comments. You may find that you enjoy being part of this community. (An extra couple of bucks isn't bad either!) Forgot to mention, it's FREE to join!

Hits4Pay: How to Turn 2 Cents into $45.00!

When I first came across Hits4Pay, I wasn't impressed. I didn't see the opportunity to earn residual income.

Hits4Pay pays you to read email. They only send Hits4Paya few a day. The email is usually about internet income generating programs, services and products. I had come across the banner on several sites and never joined. Then one day, I figured it wouldn't take long to reach the minimum payout because they give you a $10.00 sign up bonus. I decided to test it out. Sometimes you come across opportunities and you pass because you really don't see the whole picture. Had I known then, what I know now...I would have joined immediately.

It's been several months since I joined. I now have about 250 referrals. Last month, my Hits4Pay total was $46.71. Now, every referral is not active and I don't have the time to check the email everyday. (That means that I could have earned even more).
How are payments processed?
You must have $25.00 in order for you to get paid.

When your account balance reaches $25 or more, it's 'Cleared' or 'Zeroed-Out' to cut your check. Account's are 'Zeroed-Out' from your statistics on the 1st of every month and the checks are mailed to you on or before the 15th of the month
.

How can you duplicate my efforts to increase your Hits4Pay referrals?
1. You can use traffic exchanges to get referrals. I created a lens that has many excellent traffic exchanges you can use. Here's the link How to Get Traffic to Your Blog or Site!
2. Another option is to use ptrs (paid to read sites). I've gained many referrals this way. The best part is that, many ptrs are currently running promotions to increase membership. They are giving new members free upgrades (free advertising) on their sites! Here is a list of the latest PTR FREE UPGRADES!
3. If you have a blog, you can tell your readers about it.
4. If you're a member of a forum, you can add your referral link to your signature.

There are other sites like Hits4Pay. Here are just a few:

Hits4Pay also owns Deals-n-Cash:

The email is worth .02 -.05 each. You also earn money for every email your referrals read.

AdBux.org is a similar site except they offer many email ads. They often have between 25-50 ads. You earn .01 for each email and for all your referrals' actions. It doesn't seem like a lot, but look at the example they give:
Earnings Example
You click 25 ads per day = $0.25!
10 referrals click 25 ads per day = $2.50!
Your weekly earnings = $19.25!
Your monthly earnings = $77.00!

This example is possible. Remember, I have over 250 referrals. The difference is that Hits4pay sends a small amount of email. That's why I earn less there.
What about the payout?
Once you reach the $5.00 payout, you can request payment by paypal.

ClixSense is a little different. They offer email ads that are worth more money, if you upgrade your account. Why? Advertisers will pay more to viewers that prove they have purchasing power. You don't have to upgrade, but you will make more money if you do. It costs $10.00 to upgrade and it lasts for a year.
Here's how the payout works:
Payments are disbursed by check and mailed to the postal address on your profile on or before the 10th day of each month for earnings of the prior month provided that your account balance has reached the minimum payout level of $10 (you may select a higher minimum payout if desired). If your account balance is less than $10 (or the minimum payout you selected), earnings will carry forward until such month as you have met the minimum check requirement.

Once I get a nice amount of referrals for the three programs above, I will be able to earn a monthly payout that will cover my internet, phone and cable bill. Think about it. If I get at least $45.00 from each, I will earn $180.00 from these 4 companies. Not bad for opening a few emails....

This post was an answer to a question posed by several readers. I hope you find this information useful and that it helps you Make Money Online!

EMoms at Home: A Great Resource!

I was reading one of my favorite blogs ShoeMoney. "ShoeMoney" had a post about a contest that is running on a site called EMoms at Home. The prizes are great and I wanted to share them with you.

You can win a free copy of SEOBook by Aaron Wall just for linking to the blog! Another prize is Meet and Grow Rich. You automatically get a $500.00 coupon code for the Blogger's Elite Retreat just for linking! (I would love to go to that retreat). The grand prize is a phone consultation with Jeremy "ShoeMoney" Shoemaker. Here's a list of the prizes.

Go visit because I know you will love all the great information she has. I'm off to read more posts...

Make Money on The Internet: Update for March 2007

Many of you send me email asking about the amount of money I earn. Although I have posted checks and paypal statements, people still want to know. Now, I want to give the information. Keep one thing in mind, some of the totals are for two months and others are just for one. I'll try to specify the time frame.

Associated Content
$102.00 for March's referrals.
FusionCash
$256.00 for two months. I only completed one offer for $15.00. The rest of the money came from referrals. (Be sure to cashout ASAP. The $5.00 bonus they give you expires after the second month of being a member. Your referral fees also expire.)
Text Link Ads
$50.00 for referrals that put up their code. (If you are referring others to this site, be sure to encourage them to install the code ASAP for a minimum of 7 days. That's how you get the referral fee). This site can be very lucrative.
Google Adsense
$195.00 for two months
Blogitive
$805.00
PayPerPost
$60.00 for two posts and two referrals. I have over $200.00 in referrals, but they are pending. Either the blogs were not accepted yet or the bloggers didn't post the review yet. (If you have joined PayPerPost with my link and you need your blog to be indexed by Google, leave me a comment. I will show you how to have it indexed in less than 48 hours).
Blogsvertise
$22.00 for three entries. I had many more reviews, but I was pressed for time. I had a lot of dentists, doctor and specialists appointments with my kids. I'm also having the house remodeled and repaired. I lost out on a lot of blogging time.
ReviewMe
Because of the reasons above, I was unable to complete TWO reviews for $50.00 each. I was beating myself over it. What can you do?! If the advertisers read this, send me the review. I will complete it ASAP. Unfortunately, the review price has increased from $100.00-$150.00.
DealBarbiePays
$10.50 I completed one offer and have gained 19 referrals. This is a great gpt site. They have a lot of free offers. I'm currently trying to get enough signs to get an ipod shuffle for my youngest child. He's dropped several CD players. The ipod shuffle can be clipped to his clothing. haha!
Hits4Pay
$46.71 This is not bad, considering I only have to read email. I only get 1-3 a day. How did I earn this much money? I also earn money from the email my referrals read. Not bad for one month?
TAD
$25.00 I wasn't expecting this one. I found a $25.00 payment in my paypal account. Apparently, they were running a referral contest and I came in 18th! TAD is short for TargetAdsDepot. It's a great advertising site and income generator.
CashCrate
$42.96 This is from my referrals' earnings. It's for one month.
MaviShare
$17.55 This is for one month.
MyLot
$9.89 This is for one month. I really didn't have time to post, so it's all from my referrals' earnings.
TreasureTrooper
$19.15 This is for one month. It's all from my referrals' earnings.
OutSide Advertiser
$75.00 for a link. The payment went straight to my paypal account.
Cell for Cash
$15.00 That was for a month.

I also earned about $150.00 from affiliate networks. I should receive payment for all except for one. I have to download a tax form, which is difficult. I ran out of printer ink and I can only purchase it from Dell. I'm sure there are other payments I forgot about, but these are the bulk of it. Sometimes I get a pyment here or there from an income opp I joined and forgot about it. I love to get those! I have earnings on other sites, but I'm not at the payout point yet. Many of them will send me checks the following month, after this month's earnings are added. Which sites? Amazon, Clickbank, and Helium are just a few.

If any of you have joined a program and are having a hard time gaining referrals, leave me a message. Be sure to tell me which site it is. Chances are I have already written a tutorial for it somewhere on my network of blogs.

I only added a few of the most lucrative programs on this post. Otherwise, it would have been much longer!

*********************A NOTE FOR ADVERTISERS***********************************
I have received email from advertisers that have requested to pay me for links and/or reviews. If you are an advertiser, you are welcome to contact me. I have a network of 15 blogs and 7 Squidoo lenses. For those advertisers that are new to my blog, I have 7 kids and they are willing to test most products including phones, tech gadgets and clothing. They have tested products for research companies and completed questionnaires and/or surveys. Contact me for further details.

An Interesting Experiment by Ilker Yoldas

When I started blogging, I purposely didn't add any pictures anywhere. There was a reason for this. I wrote a post about it called "Method to the Madness". The purpose was that I wanted people to get to know me, my children and my life without seeing what we looked like. People usually judge a book by it's cover. I wish it wasn't like that, but it is. What happens next? They make this whole snap judgement and create this "distorted perception of reality". Then they expect you to act and behave like the fantasy world they created.

My friends have a theory. When I was going through court battles with my ex-husband for custody, visitation and support...I always got the short end of the stick. All of my friends told me they believed it was because I didn't let them see me sweat. They told me not to dress well, do my hair or my makeup. They wanted me to show up looking...well in despair. That's not me, I never let them see me sweat. For that reason, I may have been misconstrued as a villain. Whatever. I survived and I still don't let them see me sweat. My friends believed the judges assumed I was a cold hearted b#$@&. As if I had stepped all over his heart and walked away. Hhmm, if they only knew. Their theory was that the way I looked was what created this distorted perception of reality.

Anwyay for that reason, I chose to write in my blogs and leave the rest to the imagination. I thought it was funny to read about a person that did the opposite. Here's a blog post on The Soho Quest about it:

Gaming the Blogosphere with Ilker Yoldas

This person used a picture of an attractive female (she's a latin celebrity) as their avatar as an experiment. The experiment was to see if it helped the blog gain more traffic. I think that's pretty funny. The blog is pretty good. It's called The Thinking Blog. (Perfect example for all those young kids. You really never know who you are talking to or reading about).

Did the experiment work? Well, I knew about The Thinking Blog because the avatar was all over MyBlogLog. I also saw the avatar repeatedly on JohnChow.com. I'm sure it did contribute to a lot of visitors that were curious.

Do you think that a picture can have this effect? Do you think that some of the top myspace bloggers would be there, if they hadn't posted their "professional" photos? Do you think that mentality is specific just to myspace or does it happen on other blog sites? Could it be due to the age of the readers or could this happen among an older crowd of bloggers?

Hhmm, makes you wonder. Doesn't it?

Would You Like to Win a Dyson Slim Vacuum?

This morning, I saw a commercial and I laughed. I laughed so hard, I snorted. I think I scared The Little One. The laughter was not just because it was hilarious, but because it was so true. It was an ad for the new Dyson Slim Vacuum. What was so funny? They showed all these women vacuuming. All their vacs were making a rubber ducky sound, while the Dyson Vacuum sounded powerful while in use. It was ingenious on the part of the advertisers. I couldn't get the commerical out of my mind. You know having such a large family, nothing here gets normal wear and tear. Vacuums are practically disposable here. I have one the deck right now (waiting to go to the dump), because the belt broke and we couldn't find a store that carried it. We couldn't even find it online. I have another in the garage. It just died. Three vacs in 12 months. It's a record. The Little One's Dad bought me a carpet sweeper. (Ha-ha)

Anwyay, I was reading a blog: I'm not just a mom...I'm a Home Mom (thanks for the link love). At that blog, I read all about the contest 5 Minutes for Mom is running that is being sponsored by ....Dyson Slim Vacuum!

The contest is open to all. You can enter by putting your info into the Mr.Linky and leaving a comment. They don't even require you to have a blog! If you are a blogger, they strongly suggest you write a post about it in your blog to inform your readers. So, go on over and enter. You have nothing to lose. You may gain a new Dyson Slim Vacuum! (Hurry, the contest ends at 1pm on April 4, 2007.)
