EAGLES wants to help you quit smoking! EAGLES stands for Evaluating Adverse Events in a Global Smoking Cessation Study. They are conducting a clinical research study on individuals that are motivated to stop smoking.
How can you get involved in this research study to stop smoking?
You must meet the following three requirements:
- You must be between the ages of 18 and 75.
- You must be smoking ten or more cigarettes a day.
- You must want to quit smoking.
In order to qualify for this study, you must be willing and able to attend 15 outpatient visits over a 24-week period and be available for 11 phone calls. During the first 12 weeks you may receive active treatment in one of these forms:
- varenicline
- bupropion
- transdermal
- nicotine patch
- placebo
You won't know which of the substances you will be receiving. The second 12 weeks will be for follow up. By entering this study, you must refrain from using any type of tobacco product or nicotine replacement therapy. This is because it can alter the study's results.
