I spend a lot of time blogging. Probably too much, but I really do enjoy it. Could I actually make money while doing it? Supermom over at Getting Out of Debt. has talked several times about different ways to make money with your blog and I never really was interested until this week when she posted about Blogvertise. Now this one has me interested. This post is actually my entry post for their approval process.

Supermom's good stuff on 02 December, 2006
Cruising around trying to find information on making money via the web, I ran across this lady at squidoo.com, which led me to some of her other blogs about making money. I haven't tried these yet, but I'm going to definately try some and let you know about the experiences.

Looks like she has some pretty good information, at least on the surface.

So I've got about 97 cents in my PayPal account, right? And I'm trolling the net to find sites that pay bloggers. Thanks to this supermom of 7 whose blog post hipped me to a bunch of "get paid to blog" sites, I learned about this Mickey D's deal from CREAMaid, who will pay me (hopefully) a handsome 10 bucks pretty quickly (I pray) to said nearly empty PayPal account.

Review of ReviewMe...a Brand New Site on Monday, November 13, 2006

I have several sites that I frequent, one being Getting Out of Debt which always has a bunch of neat ways to earn money. These are just a few testimonials, there are more. If you'd like for your post to be included, just leave me the link in the comments area.

Get Free Traffic With writeabout.us

I found WriteAbout a traffic generator last night. I was literally falling asleep at the desk, so I decided to leave it for today. After visiting the site, I decided it was worth sharing with all of you.

WriteAbout.us has two ways of generating traffic. You can either pay for a link to your site or get a free link by writing about their site. Once you write your entry, you submit it to their site and you get your free link. Both free and paid links are displayed on the front page of the site. As more people pay for links or write about the site, your link moves down until it eventually comes off the page. If you pay for a link and later decide to place another bid, 20% of the bid is added to your paid amount. This gives you a higher placement. If you're fortunate enough to catch the eye of an editor, your site will be added to the permanent directory of the site!

It sounds like a great idea. I will be submitting this post for a free link. I'll keep you updated on the traffic I receive.

Carinsurance.com and Teen Driving

Carinsurance.com has released a press release informing the public of a new aid Geico is using to promote teen safe driving. They have added "Teens and Trucks" to their online library. Last week alone, there were four deaths attributed to reckless teen driving in my school district. This particular brochure was developed with the American Moving and Storage Association. It includes valuable information for teens on how to safely share the highway with large trucks.

Here are some of the lessons "Teens and Driving" teach:
1. Stay out of a truck's blind spots or "No Zones."
2. Be careful when attempting to pass a truck.
3. Do not swerve in front of a truck or cause the driver to come to a sudden stop.
4. Avoid "Squeeze Play" when a large truck needs to make a wide turn.
5. Do not cut off a large truck or passenger bus.

Being the parent of 7 kids of which 4 are teens, this information is important. As many of you know, teens tend to have a mentality similar to MacBeth's. They believe they are infallible and invincible. This is a dangerous mix and although I'm not crazy about scare tactics, I'm totally on board with safe defensive driving courses. They need to realize that cars are great tools for a social life, but they can also become weapons in the wrong hands.

For more information about "Teens and Driving" visit http://www.geico.com/auto/safety. For an auto insurance rate , visit Carinsurance.com. They can help you purchase your insurance online!

Get Paid to Provide Advice with BitWine.com

Lat week a representative for Bitwine.com contacted me. They explained what the site is about and asked if I was interested in becoming part of their network. Here's what they are all about...

What is BitWine.com?
It is a service that allows you to charge for your knowledge (per minute). You register on their site. Next, you display a widget they provide on your site. If someone needs help in your area of expertise, they can call you and you can provide this one on one help-at a small fee that you determine. The calls must be pre-paid by the client before the call is placed.

How do you make money?
You determine how much your time is worth. That's right! If you are a popular blogger and are knowledgeable in a popular area you can really earn a nice amount of money. They are currently in beta stage, so they are not charging any fees for thsi siervice. They do state several times that they may charge a small fee in the future.

How will you get paid?
They use paypal to make payments. Their FAQ states that a small paypal service fee may apply. I'm not sure why and I couldn't find the answer on the site either.

What do you need?
You will need to download skype. It's a VOip service. The download is free. Skype is currently offering unlimited caling for 12 months at $14.95. It's not a bad deal. As a matter of fact, I'm getting it for The Chatterbox. That will mean only four teens will be fighting over the phone...

I'm curious about the service and I plan to test it. Unfortunately, this is a very busy time for me. The kids will finish school on Friday and they will be home on vacation. I've scheduled dental appointments, doctor's appointments and other necessary visits. I won't be available at a consistent time on a daily basis. As soon as I can dedicate time to this venture, I will register. Of course, I will post the info in case any of you want to see how it works! Perhaps, some of you may want to talk to me on the phone...

Get Paid for PiggyBacking Your Credit!

All of you know that I spend hours on the internet trying to find ways to earn money from the comfort of my home. This could be a great opportunity for those of you that have a great credit score and accounts that are over two years old. Let me give you the details.

Not too long ago, I wrote about "piggybacking" credit. This is a trick that has been used by the real estate industry for years. If your credit is blemished, they ask you to find someone with excellent credit to add you to one of their accounts as a user. This will boost your credit history within 90 days. The site http://www.tradelinebroker.com has turned piggybacking credit into a lucrative business. Anyone can improve their credit score considerably by paying for this service.

Now, this same company is looking for individuals with excellent credit histories. They pay people to add users to their credit cards.

What are the requirements?
The following is taken for the http://www.tradelinebroker.com
Must own and have open at least 1 account that meet the following criteria:

Accounts must be at least 2 years old
Must be major Credit Card accounts
Perfect payment history required
Credit report from all 3 bureaus must be obtained every 90 days.
All accounts must have a minimum credit limit of $5,000

What do you get out of it?
All members are paid $50-$150 for every client of ours who purchases 1 Authorized User account. Total workload is roughly a 5 minute phone call to your credit card company, per authorized user. Most of our clients purchase 3 - 4 Authorized User accounts, so if you have 3 - 5 accounts that meet the criteria, you would be paid $150 - $450 for 20 minutes of work! Some of our card holders maintain 10-20 good credit cards, some with an unlimited # of authorized users that can be added, and make in excess of $2000 a week.

Is it legal?
Yes. The people at http://www.tradelinebroker.com state it's safe too. You earn money for this service and the client is not aware of the account holder. The client is paying a considerable amount of money to increase their credit rating, so I believe that it must filter the type of people that are eigible.

If you are looking for an easy way to earn some extra income to get out of debt, pay off your mortgage, car loan or finance a much needed vacation-this may be a great alternative.

I would love to try this service, so that I could give you a more accurate review. Unfortunately, I can't fulfill the requirements. Don't think I won't try to in the future. This may be a great way to earn some extra money for my kids' college costs in the future. They are getting older everyday and college expenses will be approaching quickly!

** I use every service I review. I am not able to use this one for obvious reasons. Please, be sure to research with the BBB bureau for more indepth reviews.**

Thrifty Scot: Financial Services for the UK

This is a review for Thrifty Scot a financial site used by my readers that are residents of the UK. It is a financial site that has me envious. This is the type of information that personal finance bloggers provide. As far as I know, there aren't any companies that list all the services other companies give to help you make a clear choice.

Thrifty Scot gives a detailed comparison of different companies and what they offer in the following financial areas:
credit cards
secured loans
mortgages
savings accounts
home insurance

If you click on the links above, the page will show you the rates offered by each company. Everything has been put in one place to help make your decision easy. All the research has been done, you choose what makes sense for your lifestlye.

The site is similar to Progressive that promises to give you the lowest insurance quote possible, regardless of the company.

This is the perfect site for one stop financial services for anyone that lives in the United Kingdom. This site is good news since the UK is in trouble with credit cards and the debt they create! Read about it here:

One Million Links?

Here's a site that may help you get some new traffic! The site 1,000,000 links is attempting to get one million links. Yup, and I think they will be able to achieve it.

Here's why:
1,000,000 links has the HTML for you to copy and paste on your site. As soon as you copy, paste and publish the link, it automatically appears on their site. That means that anyone at the site will see your link and may be interested in seeing what your blog or site is all about.

You also get traffic another way. Everytime someone clicks on the link on your blog, your link shows up on their site. That can translate into MORE TRAFFIC. 1,000,000 created a great way to get links while giving the "linkers" some benefits!

Now go get some link love!

Need Your Permalinks

I'm adding a blogger testimonial entry to my Squidoo lens. It will be an entry on this blog. I've come across blogs that have posted a link to this blog or the Squidoo lens MAKE MONEY ONLINE on Squidoo with a write up about their success with the programs I've reviewed. Unfortunately, I never copied and pasted the links for safekeeping. Now I need to know where those entries are and their permalinks.

Let me explain what's going on.
I'm going to create a section on the Squidoo lens MAKE MONEY ONLINE on Squidoo, which is currently ranked #9 of over 50,000 lenses. It will be a blog entry with links to bloggers that have taken my advice and used the programs I have reviewed. For example, if you are one of my referrals at MaviShare, Blogitive or sold your cell phone to the site I reviewed and wrote a post about it thanking me with a link-please leave a comment here and include the permalink to the entry. I know that many of you have thanked me, I've read the posts. I've tried to reply to them, but sometimes it's been difficult. (Your platform wouldn't let me comment).

How is it going to be done?
What I'm going to do is copy and paste a portion of your entry, with your username and blog. Then I will place a hyperlink to your entry with the title of your entry.

Why am I doing this?
I receive email from everywhere. Many people ask me if these sites really pay. I just figured that since many of you have tried it and know it's for real, I could use your testimonial. You can benefit from some extra traffic and some links. You may even gain some new readers. Just be sure that it states which site you tried, how much you made and which site you found it on (one of my blogs or the Squidoo lens).

I'm also going to start answering email from my blog. Answering all the questions I receive has become overwhelming. It is time consuming. I do want to help you earn money from home, but it makes more sense to answer a question once and leave it here for others to read. I'm sure I'll have to find a way to categorize that in the future!

Don't worry if you don't see your comment right away. I have enabled comment moderation due to spam and a few characters I didn't want to engage with. (As you can read above, I'm a mom of 7. I want to keep this a family friendly site).

I want to write the entry and add it to the Squidoo lens by Tuesday. If you want to write a new entry, you can. Just be sure to write the site you used. If I get enough entries for the different companies, I might just write an entry for each particular site. That would spread the testimonials throughout the lens. I'll see how it goes...

Review: SocialMail

There is a site that just came out of Beta. SocialMail is an email and discussion board in one. Actually, it's not an email service. It is used in conjunction with your usual email provider.

What is it's function?
This application may make sense for those people that have to communicate with several departments at the same time. You can ask one question and several people will be able to particiapte in the discussion-in real time.

Curious about how it works, I registered my email and sent myself an email at a different email account. It was difficult to navigate. It may be a resourceful tool for people that need answers quickly. I just think that IM would work as well.

Is it user-friendly?
Let's be fair, the site was just launched. This could be why the login was not working properly. It also wouldn't let me check my private messages, even after I received a message alerting me.

I'm going to play around the application for a little while and give it a chance. Perhaps, I'm missing the point.

Arrington, Calacanis and Scoble, Can Someone Tell Me Why?

On December 3rd, Michael Arrington from TechCrunch wrote a post about the newly launched RockStartup.com. This is a new site that chronicles the journey of PayPerPost.com. You know PPP. They're the company that pays you to blog. Of course, Michael once again took a shot at Ted Murphy and the PPP business model. (I hope you don't mind if I call you Michael). The review was suppose to be about PPP's new site RockStartUp.com which is very entertaining reality tv. Go ahead, watch it and see for yourself.

This is what Jason Calacanis said about it:
"I can't wait for the episode where Ted (the founder) goes to jail."

Here's the rest of it:

PayPerPost Chronicles Their Amorality

A little harsh ...no?

During this whole school yard bully drama, (I should know...I have 7 kids), I've left comments here and there and asked the A-listers one question. What is that question?

Why is there so much animosity towards PayPerPost.com when the first "get paid to blog" site marketed to the average blogger was Blogitive?

Although some of my fellow bloggers have been heckled on their comments section by these A-listers, my question continues to go unanswered. Perhaps there is something more WE don't know about? Perhaps this is all a ploy to funnel thousands of hits to PPP's site? It does seem like a great marketing ploy. After all Ted is the ultimate "guerilla" marketer. He flooded The Today Show street audience with free Tshirts and posterboards with the PPP logo. Then he made the video viral with the assistance of YouTube.com and the PPP posties.

I'd like to take a look at some of the similarities between Blogitive and PPP.
1. They both pay bloggers to write content and provide a link in their post.
2. They both have a screening process for bloggers.
3. Neither of them accepts community blog sites that are adsense revenue sharing sites like writingup.com, bloggerparty.com and others.
4. Both companies want the blogs to be over 90 days old.
5. Both companies require the blogs to be indexed by Google.

Here are some of the differences:
1. Blogitive has been around much longer, but has gone under the radar? (I guess they can consider themselves lucky...)
2. PPP has a limit on the amount of posts a blogger can submit per day per blog.
3. Blogitive provides a press release that must be worked into the content of the post accompanied by the appropriate link.
4. Blogitive gives the blogger a 48 hour time frame to complete and submit the post.
5. PPP just started a 30 minute grace period to give the blogger time to post.
6. Blogitive pays weekly by paypal. This makes it very appealing to many WAHMs and SAHMs. (Trust me I know. I am a member of many, many WAHM and mommy blogger forums.)
7. PPP pays you (by paypal) after your post has been up for 30 days.

You guys probably wouldn't know all of that, so I thought I'd share... Isn't that nice of me? (It's the mommy in me.)

My guess is that PPP is creating waves in the blogosphere, using every major traffic generator possible. That's right, they've used Digg, YouTube and even put out a "hit" on Flickr (geared towards Robert). I guess that makes them an easy target. They are growing into an "EVIL" entity that is "polluting the integrity of the blogosphere". (Can't remember which one of you guys said that...) Regardless, I'm here to tell you that PPP was not the first to introduce this business model. So, why all the drama?

This is what Jason Calacanis just said and you can even watch the YouTube video!
* Payperpost and similar paid review blogging models do nothing but dirty up the blogosphere like someone dumping trash on our city streets.

Jason Calacanis Speaks About Digg, Netscape, SEO & Pay Per Post Blogging
December 5th, 2006 by Loren Baker, Editor

Scoble's latest post on PPP:
Wordpress.com doesn’t allow PayPerPost and other SEO gaming
PayPerPost is a way to game search engines. If you want to do that, take your blog somewhere else and protect those of us who aren’t willing to do that
.
Immediately after the post, you can read this comment by a blogger:
1. “Also, if you want to put lots of ads and things on your blog, why are you using a free service? Pay for a host and put that stuff somewhere else.”

Says Robert, advertising his book (twice) on his free Wordpress.com blog Not saying you shouldn’t. But, it’s not that different from a sidebar of Google Ads.

Comment by remarkable — November 10, 2006 @ 2:00 am

Please be sure to give out the right information. Blogitive was on the scene first. Just wanted all of you to get your facts straight before you go on your next PPP rant. If anyone "polluted the blogsosphere", it was Blogitive. At least blame the right company?!

Ever heard this before?
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

(That advice is only if the animosity all of you harbor against PPP is genuine and not just a great marketing strategy that's taking place behind closed doors far from the "little bloggers" like me...)
