I submitted posts to several festivals and carnivals this week. Visit them for some great reads on many different topics. There are so many different ways to save money, you just wouldn't believe it!
Thanks to all the bloggers that hosted all the carnivals. It is hard work to put them together!
This week the Festival of Frugality is being hosted by Free Money Finance.
This week's Carnival of Business #10 was hosted by Consumer Driven Opportunity. It was posted in story form, which I'm sure was time consuming! Great job!
This week's Carnival of Family Life #7 is being hosted by Jennifer at Snapshot.
This week's Carnival of Personal Finance #54 is being hosted by Mighty Bargain Hunter.

Blogging Ads: Another Way To Reduce Your Debt
Thanks to Intricate Girl from bloggerparty, I signed up for Blogging Ads on June 28, 2006. I submitted 7 of my blogs to their site and on June 29, I got 6 offers.
BloggingAds is similar another site that I use for income. They pay you to post links in your blog. Here is how it works.
1. They pay you $5.00 to post an ad on your blog.
2. What is different about them is that they send you an email with 4 pre-written posts that you can simply cut and paste into your blog. How easy it that? I chose to write several of mine because some of my blogs are very personal and it wouldn't have made sense to my readers. I worked the ad into my post.
3. They also give you the choice to write your own post because they understand "your blog has a voice" (they give you the exact site to link to and 4 choices of a keyword as well).
4. You send them the permanent URL of your post in an email and your paypal address.
5. They state that within one business day, they put the money in your paypal.
Now I have come across several bloggers that have stated they have already made enough money to pay half a credit card balance in a few weeks. (Of course, that depends on how much the balance is). Someone else wrote that it paid for their car payment. I made $35.00 the day after I signed up. Not bad...
These sites can help you pay off your debt. Use them. If you're a blogger you already have what you need: a blog, writing skills and a desire to make some extra money!
Good luck!
*They don't have a referral system, but I would appreciate it if you let them know you heard about them from supermom-in-ny. Thanks!*

Home Based Businesses: What Motivates Me to Succeed
Someone asked me how I keep motivated when dealing with my businesses. I thought that was a great question! I know how and why I stay motivated, but others don't. Since I love to share my knowledge with others, I thought this would make a great post!
First let's see what the definition of motivation is according to merriam-webster online.
There are several great motivating factors in my life.
My kids
My children are the greatest motivators. Besides the fact that they are constantly growing, eating and depleting resources, I am their primary caregiver. I need to be available at a moment's notice. I live very far from family and friends and I don't have a support system. This means that if they are sick in school, I would have to miss work. When the baby broke his leg, I stayed home. When they have school functions.... well...if I don't attend they will be alone. That's the way it is. I have to be there and be present body, mind and soul.
The boss from hell
For the first time in my whole life, I was let go from a job. At this job, I was hailed for my accomplishments, the clients loved me and I loved the job. I went above and beyond. I was asked to make myself available to clients at my home number and cell numner and was demanded to take work home. (I was not paid for any of this or reimbursed for any expenses incurred.) This was a non profit organization. The directors changed and the Martha Stewart clone came to "power". She made many of us cry, changed our schedules from one day to another to get us to quit and forced us to work under poor conditions (she made me work in a building with no heat for a week during upstate NY winter). She refused to let me take time to have my son's evaluations done for early intervention, made me stay late (even though I told her I was jeopardizing my day care) and made us come into work when the town was closed (due to a blizzard). I risked my life and those of my children to make it to work that day and then she let me go a week later. Most of the employees that were there were let go or quit since her tyranny began. People she hired have quit the same day. She made me work through lunch, refused to let me go to a school function where my son stood alone and hung my job security over my head on a regular basis. I waited to purchase a car (mine was on its final days) until she told me I would have job stability. I bought the car, drove it to work and she let me go the next day. Would that be motivation enough for you? I vowed I would never alow someone to dictate my life and the life of my children like she did. Within weeks of losing my employment, the evaluations confirmed my suspicions. My youngest child was diagnosed with autism and my 13 yr old was diagnosed with ADD. Had I not lost that job, I never would have been able to take him to the myraid of specialists his diagnosis required. (It was a blessing in disguise).
The bills
They have to get paid. Food shelter and clothing need to be provided for the kids. The money has to come from somewhere. They didn't ask to be born, they didn't ask for their father to leave. I try to do the best that I can and I pray for God to give me the strength to do the rest. I know, bills aren't a great motivator for some. For me, those bills are the difference between living here and having to live in the city. Here I have a car, a home and the best services available for my autistic son.
Success
The final motivator is success. It's sink or swim. I'm not sinking. I have been able to survive being abandoned with so many kids in the middle of nowhere. I have triumphed in being able to work again, with so many kids and no support system. After he left in less them a month, I got my driver's license, a job and was able to care for myself and my kids. Failure is not an option. People have said that earning money as a blogger is next to impossible, I have received my first check from google and am receving payments regularly from other blogging sources. Anyone can succeed if you just put your mind to it. Set goals, meet them and persevere. I'm not going to stop until I am out of debt and on the road to attaining wealth. I have to keep going because my kids are watching. I always tells them they can do whatever they set their minds to and I have to prove it.
The Bottom Line
Children learn from example and I want and expect great things for and from them...
They are always watching. Need I say more?
Now what motivates you?

Three Ways To Conquer Debt!
If the reason you are in debt is because you have a hard time actually paying your bills at all, there are three things you can do. These three methods really work. I have shared these techniques with many people and have received great feedback.
There are three ways that you can conquer your debt. The reason I came up with these three ways is because there are many types of people in my life. Some people have reservations about keeping a bank account (lived through the Great Depression and have a great mistrust for banks). Some people aren't computer savvy, but have bank accounts. Still there are others that both have bank accounts and can use interent. One of these methods may work for you.
Using Money Orders
For those people that have to go to the check cashing place to cash their checks, this is a simple way to get the debt paid down. Take your bills with you and make out your money orders at the window. If you can pay your utility, cable and phone bills there-use the service. Many of these people have a hard time keeping cash in their pockets. By the end of the weekend, their money is gone. This is a great way to stay on track and force yourself to stay on budget. If you have a rather large bill to pay, you can split the payment into the amount of paychecks you get. Then you make out the appropriate amount every pay period. This is a great way to pay your rent, mortgage or car payment. (By the way if your bank allows it, this is a great way to pay your mortgage and squeeze in an extra payment while reducing your interest!)
Using Checks
There were several people that I know that had a problem paying their bills because they spent it too fast (quick draw debit card). I suggested they send out their bills they day before payday. All they had to do was write out a check, send the bills and keep their checkbook balanced. This way they forced themselves to not spend the money. No one wants to have a check bounce! It helped them pay the bills and stay on track.
Using Automatic Bill Pay
For those that are computer savvy, there is automatic bill pay. It works even better when you have direct deposit. If you can have paycheck is automatically deposited into your checking account it works even better. Your payments can be scheduled around your paychecks. This works wonderfully for those that are on a fixed income. You can just have all the bills paid at once. No stamps, no envelopes, no hassles!
I hope that you find these tips helpful and that they accelerate your progress to get out of debt!

Leftovers How To: Vegetables (Part 2)
Last week, I wrote a short post on reintroducing leftovers in a different presentation. This helps with not only reducing waste in your household, but also with stretching the grocery budget. Here are a few more tips.
What can you do with those vegetables that were left over from last night?
You steamed broccoli and you a had good amount left over. Now, I don't put any butter on the broccoli for one important reason: you can't season it the next day. I steam the veggies and let the kids take the portion they are going to eat. Then....they can put butter on it in their plate.
The next day, I can use the rest of the broccoli to make any of these:
1. chicken with broccoli
2. fettuccine in alfredo sauce with broccoli
3. baked potatos with broccoli and cheese (you can add bacon too)
4. cream of broccoli soup
It's that easy. If you can cook a large enough amount one night, then you can save some for the next night and your prep time is cut in half!
Now isn't that easy? A baked potato is easy to make. You poke a few holes in a potato with a fork (after cleaning thoroughly), wrap it in a microwave safe paper towel and nuke it on high about 7 minutes each. You can also wrap them in aluminum foil and place them in an oven for an hour.
Let's say you made several baked potatoes and you had left overs! You can slice them, add a little pepper, salt and paprika to make home fries for breakfast or mashed potatoes for dinner.
Hope you enjoyed that tip!

Leftovers How To: It's All About Presentation (Part I)
People tell me it's hard to get kids to eat leftovers. My family is a little bit different. My biological children and my niece know how to make themselves something to eat, reheat or reinvent leftovers. The oldest won't eat or reheat leftovers, he wasn't raised by me... Anyway, to solve this problem I decided to use different tactics. Maybe he doesn't want to eat reheated food, but what if it doesn't look like leftovers?
This entry will give you a few ways to present "chicken" leftovers in a different way. In the future I will give you a few ways to present beef, veggies and fruits!
What You Need
1. When I go to the supermarket, I always check out the sales. I usually pick up a pack of drumsticks, thighs, or chicken breasts at the lowest possible price. I will post the receipt when I find it, I paid less than $3.00 for a 12-14 pack of drumsticks. To save money and time, you may want to buy two packages. These can be used for two or three days worth of meals, according to the size of your family and whether or not you brown bag it to work!
2. Seasonings that you and your family enjoy.
What You Do
1. Bake the drumsticks (or whatever you purchased)as you normally do.
2. Serve as usual.
The Next Day
1. Take the leftover drumsticks from the fridge and take the chicken off the bone.
2. Depending on how much is left you can either use the chicken
a. in a salad.
b. in baked dish.
c. in a soup.
3. You would just add the shredded chicken to any of the above dishes. They don't even have to know it was yesterday's chicken.
One Recipe They Enjoy
This is one of their favorite recipes. I thought I would share it.
You need:
1 package of your favorite pasta (they like penne, ziti or rigatoni)
1 18 oz jar of spaghetti sauce
8 oz of cheese (your choice)-it's cheaper if you shred it yourself!
leftover shredded chicken
a shallow baking pan
1 tbsp. of basil
1 tbsp. of oregano
1. Cook the pasta as stated on the package.
2. Mix the pasta, sauce, seasonings, cheese and chicken.
3. Bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
It's done! Serve with salad, garlic bread or any other sides your family enjoys! It's actually ziti with a twist. Great for those kids that don't like ground beef.
Hope you enjoyed the tips. Feel free to send me an email for any other questions, suggestions, comments or if you have a post on the same topic that you would like me to link to. Feel free to link to this post.
Bon apettit!

Freebie Update
This week I have received freebies on a daily basis. I received the Free Swiffer Dusters, a box of Rincinol, a coupon for a free 5lb bag of cat food and another for a free 5lb bag of dog food. The most celebrated freebie was the Electroinc Gaming Monthly Magazine. They sent me the June and July issues. My sons were ecstatic. They grabbed the magazines and were reading them from cover to cover. (Getting kids to read, that's an added benefit)! I got the free sample of Biz detergent, and a few more I can't recall.
Here are some more freebies for all of you.

Frugal Shopping at the Mall
I posted a entry not too long ago that teaches how to shop at the mall and still get good prices. Since I just went to the mall, I figured I would post the receipt to show you the evidence. Now in this particular transaction I happened to have a gift card that was given to me at Christmas. Since June 13th was my birthday, I decided to redeem this gift card. The only reason I paid any money was because the girls each wanted a pair of shades (on clearance for $4.99). If I hadn't bought them, I would have paid less then two dollars for ALL the clothing.
Here's the receipt.
Now if you look at the bottom, you will see I saved over $111. My actual total for all the merchandise was $12.38. I used a $25.00 coupon that was emailed to me by the company in conjunction with a $50.00 gift card. Not bad. All I have to say is
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

Choosing a Home Based Business (Part I)
If you are a stay at home mom, retired or disabled, a home based business might be a great way to create extra income. It is important that you look at all your options before you choose a business. You don't want to start something and then not complete it. With new technology like the internet, businesses can reach so much more people at an alarming rate. Your success at a business relies on several important factors. Before choosing a business, ask yourself some very important questions and be truthful with your answers.
Here are some very important things to ponder before choosing a home business:
1. Choose a business that interests you. For example, I am what I call "sport illiterate" (people always laugh when I say that). It wouldn't make sense for me to get involved in a business that revolves around sports. Sports only interest me when it involves my kids. Even then, sometimes I don't know what's going on. It wouldn't make sense for me to start a sports affiliated home business.
2. Are you going to put some of your money into the venture? There are home businesses that have an upfront fee and there are those that are free. Have an idea of how much money you are willing to invest into your business.
3. Would you like to sell a product that sells itself or a service? Most businesses that include selling products reqiures you to have inventory. Do you have the money or space to do this? That is something important to think about. Businesses that provide services sometimes bring you commissions regularly. Are you good at selling a service or are you better at selling a product you can taste, touch, see and/or smell?
4. How much time do you want to invest in your business? Some businesses are just time consuming. They require paperwork, inventory, billing, shipping and more. Be aware that these things must get done by you-the owner!
5. How motivated are you? Can you become so motivated about your home business that you can really make a profit? Motivation and execution are important to your success. No one is going to do this for you.
These are just a few things to consider before you get involved in a business. In Part II I will cover some other important issues that need to be addressed before you take that big step...

The Online Income Experiment Figures
I kept saying I was going to show a screenshot of the online income payments, but I couldn't do it. I tried to follow the instructions on several sites to do the screenshot, but was unsuccessful. Instead of waiting until I figured it out, I printed up the screen and put the image on photobucket.
Now remember that google will be depositing the funds in my checking account, affiliates will send checks when I reach their minimum payouts and still other sites will not submit payments until their assigned dates. I just wanted to show you proof that a person can make income on the internet. For me it is now a matter of coordinating the payouts and creating a schedule of when to expect each payment. I am not dealing with tons of payments yet and it is a bit overwhelming. I can't imagine what Dooce, Steve Pavlina, Darren Rowse or the gang at Performancing.com go through. I'm not complaining, I'm just telling you that there is always some type of "work" involved with EVERYTHING.
Here are some of the payments from AssociatedContent.com, Blogitive and HeliumKnowledge.
Oh, the payments from the paid to read sites are not listed here. There was a specific reason for that. I didn't want to go over the $500.00 mark and have to upgrade at PAYPAL, but that has become inevitable. I have payments that are pending approval at Associated Content from last month. Once the submissions are approved, the payments will be processed. I haven't even opened the ebay store yet! I know that is going to accelerate the debt reduction plan. I'm not even including the home based businesses that are yet another income.
Remember, I have given step by step instructions on everything I have done somewhere on this blog. If there is a site you want to try out, just read my tutorial and make some money! Now there is no excuse for you. You have the proof, a step by step guide and a way to create extra income to pay off those cards. You have all of this without needing to pay extra daycare, extra gas or any other expenses employment incurs. You can make extra money from your computer in the comforts of your own home. Now go get busy so you can get out of debt faster and REALLY enjoy your summer!

Free Summer Activities For Your Kids!
Summer is almost here and for many stay at home moms this brings a little anxiety. The resounding question is "What low cost activites are there for my children?" Here are some suggestions that you wi8ll enjoy and you'll love the price. Howe much will it cost you? Nothing, zilch, zero....FREE! Yes, we love free don't we?!?
Toys R' Us is having a lovely little FREE SUMMER ACTIVITY PROGRAM . They will provide two hours of entertainment on Saturdays from 1pm-3pm (June 3-June 24). Children age 3-8 must have parental supervision. The particpants will receive free materials while supplies last. Visit their site for details!
A.C. Moore has a great free program for children. They provide the materials for children to make a different craft. In my town, the craft night is every Thursday afternoon. Visit your AC Moore web site to see if your local AC Moore participates in Kid's Night. They have added a new section to their web site with many fun summer activities for kids and a savings off your next purchase.
For those really hot summer days AMC Theaters has a great offer. AMC has created a program called AMC Theater Summer Movie Camp. See a different movie every Wednesday at 10:30am at participating theaters. Free movie, free air conditioning and free popcorn (this coupon expires June 16, 2006).
Visit your local library and register for their summer programs. They usually have programs geared for different ages with appropriate activities. Everything is usually free, but there are limited slots so you must register as soon as possible.
Your local zoo has certain days where the admission is free. Call or visit their web site and plan your day including your food and drinks (in other words set aside the money or bring your own), because they usually charge admission for each attraction to make up for the free admission. Getting in free doesn't mean you'll have free access to everything, that's the catch.
If you live in a rural community, it's time for the local fairs! Your local fair should have a web site where they tell you whcih day they let everyone (or just kids) in for FREE! Yes, that's right. You can go in and not pay admission fees! Now all you have to worry about is food, drinks and/or rides!
For those of you that have religious affiliations.....IT'S VBS time once again. I know people that send their kids to every local VBS program. VBS stands for Vacation Bible School. Their kids look forward to playing with other kids and the moms appreciate the break! The programs are usually free or have a small fee for supplies.
I hope that you found this helpful. Summer activities don't always have to be expensive! Now go plan your summer and have lots of FUN!!!!!
If you have something to add, feel free to email me. I will add it to this entry and provide a link to your site...

Car Troubles Stall The Debt Reduction Plan!
It seems everytime I am coming out of the hole, my car has trouble and all the money funnels into its repairs. Living in a rural community, I need a car to survive. It's not a luxury, it's a necessity. I have finally found all the sites that pay and have been able to replace my 9-5 income with online income, but the hole created by the repairs is huge. I'm now backed up on every card and utility as well as the car payment and insurance.
The good news is that I have learned how to maximize my earning potential on all the online sites. This month is going to be very busy for me. I plan to use this knowledge to my advantage and make enough income to pay off the damage created by the car repairs and get out of debt before this summer ends. You read it right. I am going to attempt to pay everything off before the summer! Then I plan to take a trip to PR, my grandmother is not doing well and my uncle was diagnosed with terminal liver disease-(a man that never drank, used drugs or abused his body??) I am going to attempt to pay everything off sooner because I may have to fly out with all the kids sooner than I think. It can be done, but I am factoring in all the things that always go wrong with my kids and the myriad of possessions I have to maintain.
There are a few things that I have to work around. Something I have to factor in is that Google and some other sites pay 30 days after the payout is reached, so although I made the income one month-the payment comes the next. Another thing I haven't mentioned is that my sister signed me up and paid for two home based businesses. One is going very well and should be contributing to the income in no time at all!
That's my update for the month, bad news and good news. I choose to focus on the good because that's the only way to live!
