I know what you're thinking. Another "get paid to blog" site? How does this woman find them? I told you I was going to scour the net until I found all the legitimate sites that pay to work from home! Now you know, I deliver!
Hey, I find them and you benefit, right? This new "get paid to blog" site has a lot of potential. How do I know? It was started by a blogger I mentioned here before. Who can do a better job at running a site like this, but a person who was on the other side? Well, the idea for this site was born after another "get paid to blog" site decided to not allow bloggers that used blogs from monetized sites like writingup.com, blogevolve.com, blogcharm.com and bloggerparty.com. After getting together on a blogging site, several of the blogging moms exchanged ideas about what worked and what didn't (regarding "get paid to blog" sites). She was the most vocal and we encouraged her to follow her idea of starting up this business. Soon after, this site was born. I wish her the best of luck and will be blogging for her as long as I can!
What do you need?
To get paid to blog on this site, you need two things. First of all, you need a blog. The second important element is a paypal account.
What do you do?
You go to the BuzzByBlog.com and register as a blogger. Submit your blogs for approval and then wait for an email to inform you of your status.
What will you blog about?
You may blog about any of the following:
1. a personal website for the purpose of increasing traffic
2. independent filmmakers to promote their movie (sounds like fun)!
3. bands looking for exposure (can't wait)!
4. local businesses that want to increase their web presence
Why happens next?
When there is an offer, you will receive an email. The email will give you the requirements of your post. It will give you information about the product or service, link you have to post and how many words they expect. If you accept the offer, you post your entry in your blog, and send the permanent link in an email to the company. Within five days, you will receive payment by paypal.
There you go, another easy way to earn money to get out of debt. I hope all of you are using these sites. Your paypal account should be growing steadily and your debt should be dwindling!
One more thing, you can also sign up as an advertiser and pay for these same services to boost your business, web site traffic or create a buzz about your blog!

Debt Reduction: Blogsvertise
Since my last debt reduction post I have found another site that pays you to blog. These sites are great because they not only pay you to blog, but it gives you more topics to write about. I always like to research the topics that I am asked to write about, so I always have fresh content! The payment helps with the debt reduction and the fresh content helps with getting your site indexed regularly. The last time I checked, my blog was on the first page of google under the keywords "getting out of debt", It was listed number three. Not bad...
Blogsvertise.com is a fairly new site that pays you to blog!
What tools do you need?
You must have two things. The first is a blog...of course, the second necessary tool is a paypal account.
What do you need to do?
After signing up and being approved, you will be given a site to write about. You need to write a paragraph of about 50 - 60 words about the site and provide a link in your entry, three separate times. You can write about an event in your life or anything else that pertains to the site's content. You can write about the service in a positive or negative light. It's up to you. Just make sure you post three links in your blog.
What happens next?
Once your post is approved, you must wait 30 days for payment. After 30 days, if the post is still on your blog and all the requirements are still in place, Blogsvertise.com will put your payment in your paypal account. What do I like most about this site? They pay $10.00 per post! If you write 10 posts, you make $100.00! Not bad for 50-60 words and a few minutes of your time!
I registered on this site on 8/21/06 and my first blog was approved. On 8/22/06, another 8 blogs were approved. On 8/23/06, I was given my first offer which I completed immediately. I am now waiting for approval of the post and in 30 days, I'll receive the payment!
There you have it, one more way to earn money to get out of debt!

Personal Finance: Making Difficult Decisions
The trip tp Puerto Rico was cancelled. It was a hard decision to make, but I had to do it. Although my parents were going to pay for the tickets, it would have dug a hole for me that would have been sressful to deal with.
First of all, the tickets my parents were paying for increased by three kids. I was going to buy the tickets to leave the same day that there was that whole drama at the airports. Looking back, I thank God that I didn't. I would have freaked out with that situation, 6 kids and the possiblity of The Little One (autistic) having a meltdown in the middle of the crowds. So, I pushed it to a later date. Actually, I decided not to go, but The Little One kept telling everyone he was going to fly in a plane to go to the beach. Then I decided to wait for the boys to get back from Florida. The day I was going to book the tickets, I was exhausted and fell asleep. The next day my ex-mother-in-law called me frantic. She had called the airline to confirm the tickets to find that they had been trying to contact my ex-husband by email and phone since last March! They needed to tell him they no longer fly on Fridays. Their trip would be extended. Translation? If I had booked the non refundable tickets, the boys would have been in Florida when I was on the plane to PR. I decided to buy the tickets for that following Sunday except the tickets now went from $178.00 roundtrip to $249.00. Oh and now I also had to take my 9 yr old niece....that has ADHD. Me, 7 kids and three dreaded diagnosis' of autism, ADD and ADHD in 4 of the 7 kids! Thrilling. I was able to find tickets for $180.00 round trip except...the kids would miss the first day of school. They had fits. Apparently, they believe that it is bad luck to miss the first day. Several kids that missed the first day of school got left back. Since when are we superstitious? The alternative was to leave on Monday at 11:50 pm and return the following Tuesday at 9:35 am. So, my parents were going to spend $2052. for less than a week. I would have to spend the money for their back to school shopping to rent a minvan for those few days.
After a million phone calls, hours on the computer and dealing with crying fits from the kids...I called my parents and explained that we would not be seeing them. Call me crazy, but even though I am not paying for it....I can't stand the thought of my parents spending so much money for a handful of days. Not to mention, the mini van rental would pull me back into an abyss of despair trying to pay the bills and buy the kid's clothing. I explained to the kids that it didn't make sense to go over there to have fun and come back to deal with so many bad consequences. In the end, they understood. They want to go back-to-school shopping without me stressing out. I had to be the adult and let them see me make responsible choices. Hopefully, it will teach them to make good choices in the future. Besides, I promised them that once I pay everything off we will go to PR. I want to be able to go and enjoy myself without worrying about how the cards are going to get paid!
This was a huge milestone. I faced a great temptation to dig a deeper whole because the big ticket item (the plane tickets) were free. I'm glad that I made the right decision. Like I always say, my kids are watching me and learning. I hope that they realized that I was faced with a difficult decision, but I opted to make the responsible one! My personal finances will be in order soon. I have to run the race slow and steady...
Lesson to Walk Away With
1. If you are given a gift, make sure you can afford the upkeep, the added expense or the taxes. (I'm including gifts such as cell phones with plans, airplane tickets or even cars -for students.)
2. You can decline a gift. Be honest about your situation. It may be a once in a lifetime scenario that will give you a temporary thrill, but the debt it brings lasts a heck of a lot longer!
3. Be realistic. There is only so much you can do. You may want to go ahead and use the bill money, but will it be worth sitting in the dark for a month.
It's your life, it's your money...be wise with it!

Blockbuster Customer Service Nightmare!
Customer service is one of the most important aspects of any business. What happens when customer service is less than stellar? You better pray you didn't upset a blogger!
Here are two examples of what can happen:
1. Here is what happened when Mr. Hirchhorn wrote an article regarding his nightmare with Best Buy's Geek Squad! He wrote it on July 31, 2006 and it was added to Digg. Within a day, it received 40,000 views.
2. Jeff Jarvis from BuzzMachine.com wrote an open letter to Mr. Dell pointing out their less than stellar customer service with various bloggers. All you have to do is google the term "Dell customer fiasco" or similar terms to see post after post. Bloggers are either teling their own nightmares involving customer service or adding to the fuel.
Here is my tale of customer service hell involving Blockbuster. Customer service is key to keeping paying consumers happy. Personnel should be trained to deal with frustrated individuals. They should be problem solvers and act accordingly. Word of mouth is a powerful tool. Tales like these can spread like wild fire and expose the companies for what they are. Big hungry profit seeking monsters that seek to prey on the consumer al the while believing that they won't share their customer service nightmares. All I have to say is....they got the wrong one!
Last week on 7/22 or 7/23, I got a call from Blockbuster. It was an automated recording stating That's so Raven had not been returned and I would be charged for the movie on Saturday. I know that The Little One's father had rented it for him and he had returned it on Sunday. I spoke to him about it on Friday July 28. I knew that he had returned it, he is meticulous about those things. He said he had returned 2 of the videos that day. I returned the other two later that week. He suggested we go in person to straighten it out.
He spoke to an employee that was pretty rude. She insisted that the tape wasn't in the store, "BECAUSE THE COMPUTER SAID SO." Then the manager comes over. Now let me explain that neither of these women are spring chickens. They are older than me. I would be able to overlook being treated rudely by a teen or young adult because they are young and just learning, but by a 40 something year old. Well, the manager of the store, was way off. She POINTED at Little One's Dad and told him that he was responsoble for the video. "That's what renting from Blockbuster MEANS". Uhh.... duh?!? So, I stepped in and stated, "Yes, but once the movie is put in that slot it is now your responsibility." To which she replies, "We never got it, so you are responsible." I don't hink so. Then The Little One's Dad asks her if this has happened before and she starts to deny it! I then told her, "Look, I've been on line here and watched people lose their tempers because your staff has made mistakes. You can't tell me that you never make mistakes, this has happened to me before at this branch." She then tells us to "Go home and check and bring the video back." Still accusing us of not returning the video. Do I look like I suffer from alzheimer's?
Little One's Dad then stated he wanted to pay for the movie and get it over with, but that when they found the video...he wanted his refund, although he was closing his account. The manager states that she can't do that and that he might as well wait until Aug 2, 2006. Now all through the conversation, the employee is saying that they have checked every place in the store and the MANIFEST says it's not in the store. Yeah, like I believe they check the whole store every day. Yup, and I am selling the Brooklyn Bridge! The manager then explains that Tuesday is INVENTORY DAY. That's when they check every shelf, nook and cranny in the store. Little One's dad still wants to pay for the movie. He gives her the card. She tells us she is risking her job, but that she will charge off the movie and tells us, "Be sure to return the movie WHEN YOU FIND IT." She's still accusing us of keeping the movie!
When we got home that evening, Blockbuster was on the caller ID. I called the store and she gets on the phone, without apologizing for the altercation. I tell her I just got a call from there, she asks for my name, I give it to her and she checks on the computer to see if I owe anything. Now, I worked in customer service in a bank-where people really get stupid and I know that when you have a confrontation with a customer....you never forget their name. She acted as if she didn't know who I was. She plainly states that I don;t have anything out. Doesn't say they found it, doesn't say it was charges off-just that I don't owe anything! I went ahead and reminded her of the incident. Non chalantly, she states that she found it in a bin right behind her with a note she had written herself stating "label missing and they didn't know who the movie belonged to." Then she went on to instruct me on how I should put the tapes or DVD's up high, so that kids won't get to it and I WON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. That was the extent of it, she gave me a reprimand and never even apologized for accusing us of losing the tape.
Monday, The Little One starts whining that he wants to watch Freaky Friday. We realize that she kept our card. I go to the Blockbuster and explain the situation to the employee. He tells me, "We cut up your card, that's what we do. You can get a new one with photo ID in less then 2 minutes." Well, I don't have my card or photo ID and I drove 25 minutes to get here. The manager stood there and acted as if she had no clue. I had to leave and drive home, to a crying kid! Do you think I am going to report her??????? Definitely. By the way, the location is on Dolson Ave in Middletown, NY. I will keep you posted as to what Blockbuster is going to do about all this drama! I sent them a detailed email on August 2nd (their Blockbuster web site) and I still haven't received a reply....

Working From Home: Pros and Cons
Getting A Degree May Become Easier
A federal bill passed in The House of Representatives on March 30, 2006 may make it easier for many to return to school to get their degree. H.R. 609: College Access and Opportunity Act of 2006

What does this mean for single parents, students in low income housholds and working individuals that don't have the time to commute to college?
The reason why I am excited about this is because online universities would qualify to receive federal aid. When I was working for the boss from hell, several of my coworkers were taking online courses. Obvioulsy, they wanted to work elsewhere. They told me about online universities and their convenience. With a full time job and a family, it is hard to fit a college scehdule into the equation. Having to drive to and from class as well as classroom time equals an exhausting life. I decided to research the schools and found that they were very expensive. The luxury of not having to attend class came with a hefty price tag. The instituitons I queried couldn't accept aid such as Pell Grants. The only route was to take out student loans. Not a big deal you think? Well, here's the problem. A bachelor's degree was not going to bring my income up by much. I was going to create more debt and not really get much of a financial return. How did I know? My best friend moved up here. She had a bachelor's degree in international business and education. She had done her internship in NYC and taken her exams to be certified (teacher). She is also bilingual and had a lot of experience. The most she was able to make was $12.00 an hour! She went back to school to get a master's, become certified to teach ESL and special ed. She is now making over $60,000, but she commutes over two hours a day, roundtrip. There is also that pesky student loan.
With this new development, online universities will be able to accept financial aid and it will become easier for people like me to go back to school. I'm definitely going to look into it. Although, I have replaced my full time income, I am considering taking advantage of this opportunity. The children are getting older and eventually, I may be able to return to the workforce. I do enjoy what I do now, but a degree always opens more doors. Luckily, I may be able to transfer some of the credits from my two years at Baruch. Hey, every little bit helps to get me closer to achieving the goal!
I will definitely be looking into this in depth. Getting a degree may not increase your income by much in some fields, but in other fields it makes a world of a difference. For me, it depends on what I decide to study. I was a business major, but decided it wasn't the right fit. At least, it wasn't at that time. Now? It may come in handy. I will keep you posted. In the meantime, you might want to see what this translates into for your future...

Pet Care at a Huge Savings!
This week, I started looking for an affordable veterinarian to have the 3 kittens(Chance, Tricks and Leah) neutered and spayed. Now I also need to have all the apropriate vaccinations for the dog (Rockefeller), since he will be traveling to PR with me and the kids. What a pleasant surprise to find that a national chain of pet suppliers offer more than just pet food and grooming services.

Certain Petco locations offer spay/neuter clinics, dog training, doggie day camps and so much more. Here's how it works. They don't sell dogs or cats and promote proper care of pets including spaying and neutering. You make an appointment with the vet's office (they provide the phone number), you bring the dog or cat to the store, then return after the operation to take them home. For $50.00 each, the kittens will be "fixed" and receive a rabies shot. That is a huge savings. Vets can be very costly.
If you live in a small community, you might want to check your town hall and see if they provide free rabies clinics. Register your dog/cat and they send you a letter informing you of the FREE rabies clinic. Check it out and see if your town or city provides this service. A rabies shot is not that expensive, but when you add the vet's fee? It gets pricey.
I hope that you find this information useful. Make sure to click on the link and enter your zip code to see the full details of the services offered by your local PETCO!

WiseOrb: Earn Money Two Different Ways
WiseOrb is a site where you submit articles. The money you earn is determined by unique visits, visitor clicks and visitors you send by using a referral link. You don't have to have an adsense account. They give you exact instructions on how to maximize your profits on the site! They cover topics like keyword density and relevant titles.
The other way that you can earn money on WiseOrb is by using their Google Search portal. All that you have to do is go to the interent options, copy and paste the URL provided in the homepage area and you will earn money when you perform a search. Someone at another blog community mentioned this site months ago, but I haven't had time to check it out. Today, I was writing about all the different ways one can make money online and I decided to do some research. Another blogger praised the site and stated they made some money, so I decided to try it. They pay once a month and the member's area gives you statistics about your referrals and earnings. I don't believe the statistics are in real time, they may be updated daily.
I'll keep you posted about the payout. It is currently a $100.00 minimum that is automatically disbursed. You can get a $50.00 payment, but it must be requested manually by the author and will cost you $5.00.
The reason I decided to tell you about this site is this. If you have several computers and use them as much as I do, you can probably accrue some money very quickly. The sooner you change your homepage to their google search portal, the sooner you can start accruing! I figured some of you might want to start right away, since some stores are already putting up fall and Christmas merchandise????
